In his prime, NBA legend Kobe Bryant MADE (not attempted) 1,000 shots per day in practice to improve his chances of making the 20-30 shots he takes per game.
Peyton Manning (NFL legend) watched hours and hours of tapes of competing teams every day (even during the offseason) to develop his incredible ability to read defenses and score against them in one 60-minute game per week, in addition to team practice.
Tiger Woods’ job (among other things) in his prime was to win golf tournaments. Prior to his injuries and personal problems, he had won 14 major golf championships and 79 PGA Tour events, more than any other active golfer. He practiced every day for 15 years before winning his first professional event at the age of 18.
The clear link between these champions is that they not only work their buttocks off, but they also enjoy what they do.
They enjoy a good challenge and a friendly competition.
Their love for the game is so intense that it carries them through numerous hours of tiresome duties that others may not enjoy, such as tape viewing, suicide drills, weight training, putting exercises, and so on.
These things are exciting to them!
